Troubleshooting Crackling on Yealink W56H Handsets

Troubleshooting Crackling on Yealink W56H Handsets

If you are experiencing crackling sounds during calls on your Yealink W56H cordless handset, this guide will help you diagnose and resolve the issue.

1. Check the Base Station Location

  • Ensure the base station (W60B or W56 base) is not too far from the handset.

  • Position the base in a central, elevated location.

  • Avoid obstructions such as thick walls, metal objects, or nearby devices (Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, cordless headsets) that may cause interference.

2. Power Cycle Devices

Refreshing the connection often clears audio issues:

  • Handset: Turn off, remove and reinsert the battery, then power on again.

  • Base station: Disconnect power for 10 seconds, then reconnect.

3. Test the Hardware

  • Swap batteries with another W56H handset to rule out battery faults.

  • Speakerphone vs. earpiece test: Make a test call using both. If crackling occurs only on one, it may indicate a hardware fault in the speaker or earpiece.

4. Reset the Handset

If the issue continues, reset the handset:

  1. Go to: Menu → Settings → System Settings → Reset Handset

  2. Enter PIN (default: 0000).

  3. Re-register the handset to the base station after reset.

If necessary, you can also reset the base station to factory defaults.

5. Inspect for Physical Damage

  • Confirm the handset has not been dropped or exposed to liquid.

  • Check the speaker grille and charging contacts for dust or debris. Clean with a dry cloth if needed.

6. Next Steps if Crackling Persists

If the crackling remains after completing the steps above:

  • It is likely a hardware fault.

  • Please contact Swazzy Support to process a warranty claim or arrange a replacement handset.

Tips for Preventing Call Quality Issues

  • Keep the base station away from interference sources (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, microwaves).

  • Update handset and base station firmware regularly.

  • Avoid using the handset while charging if you notice audio interference.
