Need to get your nbn™ connection up and running but hit a snag because the previous person didn't say goodbye to their phone or internet service? Or maybe there's a service at your new place that's not in your name, or it is, but you can't remember the number? Don't sweat it! You're in the right place to sort this out with what's called a Proof of Occupancy.
What's Proof of Occupancy Anyway?
Imagine Proof of Occupancy as your golden ticket to prove you're the new sheriff in town (well, in your new home or place of business, at least). It's a way to show you actually live where you say you do, so we can get the internet ball rolling for you.
The Magic Documents:
To make magic happen, you just need one of these:
- Lease or Rental Agreement (basically, your rental handshake on paper)
- Contract of Sale (proof you bought the place)
- Utility Bill (like electricity or water, with your name and address)
- Letter from a Nursing Home (if that's where you're living, with their official letterhead)
- Statutory Declaration plus a rent or bond receipt (a formal promise you live there, with proof you're paying to stay there)
- Letter from your Real Estate Agent with a rent or bond receipt
Make sure whatever you pick shows your full name, your living address, and when your lease started or when you bought the place.
How to Send Your Proof:
Got your document? Great! Scan or snap a photo and email it to team@swazzy.co. Pop “Proof of Occupancy” and your order number in the subject line to make things quicker. If your name on the document is a bit different from your account, no problem! Just explain why with a statutory declaration and some ID (like your driver's license or passport).
What Happens Next?
Once we get your stuff and send it over to the NBN Co, they'll take about 5-7 business days to check everything's A-OK. Then, we're all set to disconnect the old stuff and get you connected. Just a heads-up: if we don't get your documents within 14 business days from when you wanted to connect, there might be a delay.
