File History automatically saves copies of files from your computer so they can be restored if they are deleted or changed.
Step 1: Open the Start Menu, search for Control Panel, and open it.

Check that the backup location is connected
Ensure your external drive, network storage, or cloud account is accessible.
Confirm the file was included in the backup
Backups can only restore files that existed at the time the backup was created.
Browse older backup versions
Some backup systems store multiple file versions. Try checking earlier backup dates.
Use the search feature
Try searching by file name or file type if you cannot find the file in its original folder.
Restore files to a different location first
Restoring to a temporary folder allows you to review files before replacing existing ones.
Use Windows Previous Versions
Step 1: Open File Explorer.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder where the file was previously stored.
